The 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

LITURGY OF THE WORD

1st READING SIRACH

(A God of Justice)

No one is unimportant in the sight of God. If we serve God willingly, he will receive our prayers.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PS 34

(Refuge in the Lord)

“The Lord hears the cry of the poor.”

2nd READING 2nd TIMOTHY 4: 6-8, 16-18

(A Merited Crown)

Paul sees time running out and his life drawing to a close. He is comforted by faith in God’s just judgment.

THE GOSPEL OF LUKE 18:9-14

(Humility)

Pride brings no true reward but only projects an “image.” In humility true values are seen.
