Jesus gently tries to prepare the disciples for the day when he will no longer be present to them in bodily form. Unlike us, who know the story, they did not know what was coming next, so they are confused. God helps us to grow even in times of confusion. Jesus is inviting his followers not to cling to his physical presence, but to be open to a deeper way of being in relationship with Him. Often, we find it hard to let go, and to embrace the new. But in clinging to the past, we are in danger of letting the present become dead to us. Sixth Sunday of Easter LITURGY OF THE WORD 1st READING ACTS 15:1-2, 22-29 (Settling a Dispute) The Church faces its first test caused by inner dissensions and she shows how, guided by the Spirit, charity will prevail. RESPONSORIAL PSALM PS 67 (The kingdom of God) “O God, let all the nations praise you!”
2nd READING REVELATIONS 21: 10-14,22-23 (The City of God) In symbolic language the Church is depicted as a wonderful, glorious city, repenting & caught up in the glory of God.
In today’s Gospel of John 14: 23-29 (The Gift of Peace) In saying farewell Jesus has not deserted us. In his name the Father sends the Holy Spirit to aid us bearing witness to Jesus.

While in the Church…… Be silent. Be thoughtful. Be reverent. This is God's house. Before Mass, speak to God. During Mass, let God speak to you. After Mass, speak to one another. American Martyrs
A Bon Voyage party for Father Santhosh ! Is scheduled for Sunday, June 29 at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 1-3 in the afternoon. For the past 4 years, we've been blessed to have Father in our lives and we're going to miss him dearly. Everyone from both parishes is invited to wish him well and to share a favorite story or two. Also, if you have any photos of Father that you'd like to submit, please drop them in the collection basket at church, the Parish Office, or give them to any Parish Council member.
CONGRATULATIONS TO……….. Twin parishioners Victoria and Gabriela Martinez, both 2025 Austin High School graduates planning to attend Purdue University, were recently named recipients of the Lyle E. Donovan Memorial Scholarship. Each will receive $2,000 per year for four years. The scholarship was created in 1997 by the Scott County Knights of Columbus for the members of American Martyrs Parish in Scottsburg, Indiana. This action was undertaken by Council 8052 to assist parishioners in furthering their educations, and to honor the Catholic gentleman who helped establish the local council and served as its charter Financial Secretary. Criteria for the award include achievement in the areas of Academic Excellence, Church and Parish Stewardship, School Activities and Community Involvement. Since 1997, the local K of C has awarded a total of $196,500 to 58 recipients.
