              SOME THOUGHTS ON TODAY’S GOSPEL
Jesus is preparing his disciples for mission. He leaves them in no doubt about the challenges, obstacles and dangers which will await them.

They will succeed, however, because the power of God is working with them. Accordingly, the seventy return with joy’. Do we experience that joy when we do what the Lord wants?
The message entrusted to the disciples by Jesus is peace and the

nearness of the kingdom of God’. This same message of peace and

justice, forgiveness and healing, and the Good News of God’s kingdom,

has been entrusted to the Church over the centuries.

Now it is our turn to witness it.

The 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

LITURGY OF THE WORD

1st READING ISAIAH 66:10-14c

(God’s Goodness)

We may apply this reading to the Church. The Church is Jerusalem, a loving protecting mother, who receives the blessing of God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM PS 66 (Praise of God)

“Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.”

2nd READING GALATIANS 6:14-18

(Boasting in the Lord)

Through the Cross of Christ, we are created anew.

This is all that really matters.

The Gospel of LUKE 10:1-12, 17-20

(Spreading the Good News)

Even though our good works may be fruitful, we rejoice not in them but our perseverance in grace.
