The 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

LITURGY OF THE WORD

1st READING ISAIAH 55:10-11

(God’s Fruitful Word)

Isiah uses the example of rain & snow seeping into the ground to make it fertile to show how the word of God filters into the hearts of men. It shall not be void and empty.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Ps 65

(A Fruitful Harvest)

“The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful harvest.”

2nd READING ROMANS 8:18-23

(Future Redemption of the Body)

The suffering and trials of the present are destined to be only a prelude to the glorious future of the children of God. During this life, we await the redemption of our bodies.

THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW 13:1-23

(Parable of the Sower)

Jesus teaches in parables that can be easily understood. He speaks of sowing the message of salvation that by some is heeded for a while or ignored. Others, however, listen intently and tryto live according to the will of God. Jesus explains this parable in detail.

CATHOLIC UPDATE

Our church bulletin will soon start containing a monthly newsletter entitled “CATHOLIC UPDATE”.  Each monthly newsletter will present a different topic that may be familiar, but you don’t know a lot about it, or maybe a topic that you have heard little about and want to know more.  These topics generally help in the faith formation of Catholic adults. Some will also offer leading questions for reflection. This newsletter is short and only takes a few minutes to read.

AMERICAN MARTYRS PARISH COUNCIL

Congratulations to Melissa Woods, our new Parish Council member. We also want to thank Jose Guevara, Mark Cissell, and Ron Slaton for their willingness to run this year. Additionally, thank you to Teresa Wheat for her service on the council.

  4. For the Special Intentions of: Pope Leo XIV, Archbishop Thompson, and Father Brian.

5. For the healing all who are sick. That God will answer all prayer requests & help all who are sick
