SOME THOUGHTS ON TODAY’S GOSPEL Let us take this scene slowly, Lord. Jesus is coming of age, entering his teens, and as an eager student, questioning his teachers. To his mother's query: “Your father and I,” he then points gently to another paternity: “I must be in my father's house.” No Gospel scene shows more clearly the gradual process by which he grew into a sense of his mission. Let us reflect on Jesus’ statement and mission. The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph (God’s Creative Love)
This reading teaches us that motherhood and life are a gift from God. The presence of children in a family signals the continuation of life and manifests the newness of God’s love, which gives origin to ever new creatures
RESPONSORIAL PSALM 84
(Love for God’s House)
Blessed are they who dwell in your house, O Lord.
2nd READING JOHN 3:1-2, 21-24
(Children of God)
Every family must be a mirror of the divine because the root of every genuine love is God. Therefore, members of a family should deal lovingly with one another
THE GOSPEL OF LUKE 2:41-52
(Jesus Was Obedient to Them)
Jesus had become separated from Mary and Joseph. They find Jesus in the Temple teaching. When Mary asked why, Jesus replied that he must be doing his Father’s work. Jesus returned with Mary and Joseph to Nazareth.
