SOME THOUGHTS ON TODAY’S GOSPEL
An expectant mother, Mary set out on her journey. She carried the Word within her. We draw inspiration from this scene and see in it a reminder of who we are this day: We carry the word of God in us as nourishment for us and for those around us.
It is good to spend time gazing at this scene. Two women meet, both of them specially blessed and both called to cooperate in the unexpected designs of God.
The 4th Sunday of Advent
(The Messiah from Bethlehem)
Micah speaks of the glory of Bethlehem, a lone town among the people of Judah. From Bethlehem shall come forth the promised one who shall stand firm and strong in the Lord.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM 80
(Turn to the Lord)
Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and we shall be saved.
2nd READING HEBREWS 10:5-10
(Doing God’s Will)
Jesus said the sacrifices, sin offerings and holocausts did not delight the Lord. But he has come to do the will of God-to establish a covenant.
THE GOSPEL OF LUKE 1:39-45
(The Visitation)
Mary went to visit Elizabeth who was also blessed by the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth greeted Mary: “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”

While in the Church……
Be silent. Be thoughtful. Be reverent. This is God's house. Before Mass, speak to God. During Mass, let God speak to you. After Mass, speak to one another.
The new 2025 Saint Joseph Missals are available for $5:00. You can get yours now in the Sacristy or the Parish Office.
