Father Santhosh opened the meeting with prayer. Those present, besides Father,

included David and Bev Schafer, Brenda Moyna, Debbie Young, and Rich and Mary Smith.

The May minutes were presented and approved.
Pastor’s Report

Father shared a document from the Archdiocese explaining the lifting of dispensation from the Sunday obligation to attend Mass, beginning June 11. In the letter it was noted “the specifics of the use of face coverings may now be made at the local levels”. Masks will be optional at American Martyrs.

Old Business

Debbie continues to work on phone/internet issues.

Building and Grounds

A date will be scheduled to move the current office desk to Father’s residence so the donated office desk can be moved into the office. Rich plans to take care of getting and installing a new dishwasher. A parishioner has offered to replace the steps going into the church office. Rich agreed to look into this. Rich has a flag that was donated by the Knights of Columbus but may need to find someone with a bucket truck to put it up. David Baker noted the wood frame around the windows at the hall are rotted and in need of repair. David Baker mentioned Scottsburg glass does window repairs. No decision was made at this meeting.

The committee met to discuss celebrating the year of St. Joseph and how to get families involved. Different families will process in with Father at each of the weekend masses and will place a lily in a vase in front of St. Joseph. The congregation will then recite the prayer to St. Joseph together.

New Business

David Schafer said that, after 7 years, he is stepping down from serving on the Building and Grounds committee as well as the council. He thanked all who have helped him over the years.

Seven people have expressed an interest in serving on the Parish Council. Elections will be held the weekends of June 12/13 and 19/20. Parishioners will vote for up to 7 members, as there are many openings to be filled.


With no further business, Father closed the meeting with prayer.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 1 at 6:00 p.m.
